We offer several surface illumination options for
your optical comparator. There are three different types of surface illumination
in service and used on the J&L Optical Comparator line. The three choices are:

|
External Surface Illumination is slightly
similar to the internal surface illumination. That it offers a fixed wattage
1200 watt bulb, and the light passes through the lens. However the engineering is quite different in that
the light is broadcasted on the exterior of the machine across the front. It
then uses a diagonal reflector mounted on the front of the optical comparator
lens to bounce the light of your part and back through the lens to display the
image of your part on the optical comparator screen.

Internal Surface Illumination
offers a bright fixed wattage
system. It has been the standard surface illumination system used for years on
the J&L line. It mounts on the exterior of the machine but uses the internal
optics and mirrors to shine the light through the front erector lens and bounce
the light of your part back through the erector lens and displays the image on
the optical comparator screen. With its 1200 watt bulb this surface illumination
will give you a bright, clear, crisp display of your image on the optical
comparator screen.

Fiber Optic Surface Illumination offers a low upfront cost
within a reliable packaged system. The fiber optic bundles allow you the
flexibility to move or adjust the light to were you need it. It also has a
rheostat so you can adjust the light level to fit you application "sometimes
less is more". It also is a user friendly installation we feel quite confident
that the end user can install and have it operational within a day of
receipt. However the fiber optic system can not be used with all models of the J&L line. Please call and speak with a Vermont Precision Machine Services representative to confirm compatibility with your optical comparator.
