Glass Charts which are supplied with all comparators, are used to achieve maximum dimensional stability, as well as the ability to diffuse the light through a matte or frosted finish on the glass. The glass also provides a solid surface in which to place an overlay used for miscellaneous inspection.

Mylar Overlays are generally used when inspection needs warrant frequent change of chart styles to accommodate the desired inspection, or when inspection requires the use of specialized custom overlay to inspect specific parts.

Chart Clips are used to hold mylar overlays to a glass chart. And are available in 3 different sizes as a general rule 3.250" for use on 10" and 14" machines, 5.750" for use on 20" and 30" machines, and our adjustable 12" thru 17" for use on 30" and 50" machines.

However this is a general rule and ultimately it is what your preference is.
